Miss Kenya, Evelyne Njambi
It is amazing how jaws drop every time Evelyn Njambi walks into any room, standing taller than the most with her six-inch heels without her crown and sash! Ms Njambi, is only 22 years old and 5’9”ft, her straight face, masking the pleasure in her eyes!
She ever wanted to be a model or a beauty queen until she joined Maseno University for her interior design degree course although she didn’t get the chance yet. From her young age, she has ever liked watching pageants staying up late in the night watching them.
See what she had to say about it. “I used to doll myself making my family late for church every Sunday as they waited for me to get my makeup done.” This should have annoyed her only brother, Andrew Mbugua Thung’u.

She tried in the Maseno university title, although it went to a senior student, and it was a big disappointment when she was not ranked on top. This nearly made her give up modeling and pageantry. Later, she was surprised when her brother called to tell her about the Miss World Kenya try outs.
Due to respect towards her brother, she decided to try it out, although pageants had already left a sour taste in her. As we all know, everything about this crown is never easy… talk about the boot camp, the pushups physical exercise as the preparation process but she endured all that and she didn’t quit! It was amazing how a Kenyan lady went to Miss Wolrd Finals representing an excellent performance at the gala event in Maryland, Washington DC. Our one and only Evelyn Njambi!
Ms. Evelyn Njambi has beauty with a purpose, working towards Miss World Kenya awareness and eradicating female genital mutilation (FGM).
