There are times in life when even the best medicine and technology is not enough to solve a health problem. For folks struggling with depression or anxiety and stress, simply adjusting your mindset a little can make a huge difference.
Here are 3 tips to help you transform your negative or destructive mindset into a happier and more productive positive attitude.
1. Reflect on how it all went wrong
I often meet people who think that being a positive person means simply denying anything negative that happens in their lives. Having a positive mindset does not mean denying that there is anything wrong. Instead, allow some time for reflection.
Don't throw a pity party for yourself, but rather think about all the things that led up to your current predicament and how to avoid such a mess in the future. Have a positive attitude about how to solve your issue, focusing more on what you did to get there and how you can get out of the situation.
2. Learn to make fun of yourself Life can be very stressful. We can sometimes see life as a bunch of issues we just need to resolve. We can become obsessed with the headaches and issues life throws at us, worrying about every little insult and every way we think another person is trying to offend us.
Life can actually be a very funny and fun activity if we would just learn to loosen-up a bit. Try to have fun and be OK with making fun of yourself sometimes. Try to see the humorous side of the mistakes you make and learn to wear your mistakes as battle scars and not something to be ashamed of.
3. Count your blessings
No matter how bad things get remember that they could be worse learn to appreciate all the great things that you got going on in your life, even when it seems there’s more bad than good. Try to count your blessings and appreciate the awesome people you have cheering you on, while you work hard to overcome your challenges. Try to find a source of belief that things will get better. Some have found this in religion. Find yours.
